The 2009 Cadillac SRX offers good performance and handling, a luxurious interior and the only third-row seat in the class. However, while reviewers said the SRX is a good SUV. When it was new, critics liked the SRX’s upscale interior and sporty handling, especially those models equipped with the available Magnetic Ride Control, which allows the suspension to adapt to different driving conditions. They also liked its expansive cargo area and seating for up to seven, especially since all others in the class can only seat five. And even though critics liked the powerful V8 engine option. The SRX is available with either a V6 or V8 engine; each produces 255 and 320 horsepower, respectively. Critics preferred the V8, but several noted that the power from the V6 is sufficient, especially given its better fuel economy. V6 models with rear-wheel drive achieve 15-23 mpg city-highway, while opting for all-wheel drive drops each figure by one mpg. These figures are a bit low for the class, as is the V8’s fuel economy, at 13-20 mpg with either rear- or all-wheel drive. The SRX can carry up to 69.5 cubic feet of cargo with the second and third rows folded, which is good for the class. Reviewers said the interior is sophisticated and upscale, with comfortable seats in the first and second rows. Most mentioned that the third row is best left to kids. Standard equipment includes leather seats, dual-zone climate control and a Bose stereo. Major options when it was new include a panoramic sunroof, rear DVD entertainment system, navigation and power-folding third row.
